LIBERTANGO 5ET

"I’ve known the music of Libertango 5et for many years and my admiration for this band is still a special part of my musical life."

“ I love Point of Return from Libertango 5et - it’s special music and it’s full of integrity and it makes me happy, bravo ! “

John Scofield

“Libertango 5et’s choice of the Argentinian tango as a launching point for their music is a mastersroke. They’ve taken a form that already contains elements from many styles of music, and invested their unique virtuosity and intelligence to produce a completely personalized and fresh extension of the tango and beyond. Their CD is beautifully produced, their musicianship of the very highest order

Il nuovo album Point of No Return dei Libertango 5et è adesso disponibile su Spotify e sulle altre piattaforme digitali.

The Libertango 5tet was born in 1992 from the meeting between the Marsala guitarist Gino De Vita and the Catania accordionist Francesco Calì. The line-up is consolidated as a quintet with the entry of Marcello Leanza on flute and saxophones, Giovanni Arena on bass and double bass and Ruggero Rotolo on drums. From the outset, the band's stylistic peculiarities are recognizable through a marked inclination towards melody, of a Mediterranean origin, as well as an extensive use of harmony with a clear jazz imprint. The songs of the Libertango 5tet are the result of a rich and captivating miscellany focused on musical genres from all latitudes: tango, jazz, Latin jazz and Mediterranean music, influences that converge in their third album, Point of No Return, recently released.
